Holy week trip review: 5 days Marrakech – Merzouga desert

Day 14 April:

The first day of our holy week trip in Morocco will start after breakfast. We will leave Marrakech and cross the High Atlas passing through various Berber villages, to stop at the Kasbah of Ait Ben Hadou.

This famous walled city with its adobe buildings, an example of pre-Saharan construction, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987. We will continue our journey through the Dades where you can enjoy the palm groves and countless Kasbashs.

Following the course of the Oued Dades we will visit the Valley of the Roses. Its flowering during the month of April gives the valley a particular hue, making the landscape offers a visual and olfactory journey to the visitor. Our first day will end with accommodation and dinner in the Dades Gorge.

Day April 15th:

When you are ready after breakfast we will head for the Todra Gorge. During the drive to this impressive canyon carved by the Todra River in the foothills of the High Atlas you will enjoy the scenery, fertile fields and countless adobe kasbahs. You will have the opportunity to immortalize this splendid landscape in the viewpoints that we will find along the way.

Finally we will arrive at our destination, Merzouga to spend the night in an accommodation at the gates of the desert of Erg Chebbi.

Day April 16th:

This day will be spent entirely in the desert of Merzouga, visiting nomadic settlements that will allow you to learn about their way of life and customs. If you wish, you will have the option to make an excursion by quad or buggy through the desert dunes.

In the afternoon, we will go into the desert, either by 4×4 or camel. From the dunes you will contemplate a wonderful sunset. And with the arrival at the Merzouga luxury camp, once in your tent, you will enjoy a typical desert dinner and end the day with traditional music, under the desert stars… This will be the highlight of your holy week trip in Morocco.

Day: April 17th:

Essential that today you set your alarm clock early if you do not want to miss one of the natural spectacles offered by your stay in the desert, the sunrise from the top of the dunes.

After refreshing and breakfast we resume our journey towards Ouarzazate. In our holy week trip in Morocco we will make a stop in Rissani. This city has an ancient and traditional market. We find a variety of products such as fabrics, fruits and even animals; the aroma of spices fills the air.

Immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of the market and interact with the locals, a unique opportunity to learn about the daily life and traditions of the local people. Before our arrival in Ouarzazate, we will pass through the Draa palm grove and Alnif, remarkable for being an important fossil site. At sunset we will arrive at our destination where you will enjoy a delicious dinner at your accommodation.
